All of our garments are made by skilled artisans in Bali. They are designed to last and become a staple of your elegant and mindful capsule wardrobe. A staple you will love to wear over and over again. But our fabrics are delicate by nature. By taking on a few simple tips, you can maximise your garments' longevity. And truly pick up timeless fashion.
Timeless pieces with quality in mind should build the foundation of a solid base wardrobe, the key to longevity. They're the pieces that never go out of style and keep your closet neat and organised. Those quality pieces will last longer if treated right, and can later be complemented by trendier pieces for a season or two.
It's no secret that the washing process is tough on garments. Soaking, tumbling, contact with other garments - all things that can wear fabric out and will leave your favourite items faded and damaged. Washing your clothes less should be the number one rule when it comes to taking care of your garments. Treat stains while they're still fresh, and see if you can extend washing until your garments really need it.
Know that different fabrics require different washing cycles. Hand-washing is always the best and safest method, especially when it comes to cleaning our silk chiffon pieces. Known for its elegant draping and soft lustre, the fabric is delicate, and we always recommend a hand wash in cool water. Add a capful of your favourite delicate wash into a sink or washbasin filled with cool water. Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute the detergent. Soak for up to 30 minutes and rinse well by running cool water through the piece.
Sturdier fabrics should still be washed on a cold cycle - not only does this reduce energy consumption, it's also less likely to break down dyes and cause shrinkage of your garment, extending the life of every piece of clothing. If the reason you wash on a hot cycle is for antibacterial benefits, add half a cup of white vinegar and a few drops of tea tree oil to your washing.
Don't ever let the clothes you care about go anywhere near a dryer. Using too much heat on delicate fabrics can completely ruin them. Instead, leave out to dry in the sun. Do not wring your clothing either. Instead, gently press the water out of the item.
To remove wrinkles, steaming is the safest way to go for the best finish. Alternatively, use the iron on its steam setting and simply hover over your garment.
Always hang your garments to store once clean. Button the buttons and zip the zippers to avoid them catching on other clothes, resulting in damage. Investing in good quality hangers is key for good storage. Wooden or padded hangers are preferred to help keep the shape of clothes. Our silk chiffon pieces are best to be hung on a hanger; however, be mindful of clips because they can leave marks on the material.
All our silk chiffon is one size and would fit anyone from a size 8 to a size 16 depending on the style of the garment. However, do keep in mind that our slips come in size small, medium and large.
